Description
Originally made for use in dormitory rooms, this vintage GE-259 Sofa Bed was designed by Hans Wegner and manufactured by GETAMA , circa 1950s. A great example of mid-century modern functionality, this sofa features a sensibly wide frame made of beautifully aged oak that can be easily configured to a daybed. The backrest can be folded up and hides a compartment intended for storing bed linen and when this piece functions as a sofa, you have a shelf behind the backrest.
Hans Wegner was a prolific designer whose elegant, often ebullient, forms and devotion to the finest methods in joinery made "Danish Modern" a popular by word for stylish, well-made furniture in the mid-20th century.
