Description

Exuding natural elegance, the Cleo provides an atmosphere of serenity through its amicable silhouette and delicate visual texture. Every angle of this sculpture is captivating and provides a sense of balance.

This sculpture features an assemblage of a large, hand-rolled stoneware half-slab that is balanced with three smaller quarters-slabs. This sculpture was fired at a high temperature to provide a unique exterior and is then finished with a clear crackle gloss glaze.

New York-based ceramicist Re Jin Lee’s work is reflective of a contemplative approach to ceramics and belief in simplicity. Characterized by organic forms and asymmetrical balance, Lee's pieces reflect the surrounding softness of nature and unpredictable moods of self.

Raised in São Paulo, Brazil, her work is influenced by the mix of Brazilian modern and Portuguese colonial architecture, as well as the traditional Korean arts with which she was surrounded by.
